About the Battle Barge Comic
The Battle Barge is a humorous webcomic set in and around a small gamestore. The store is located
in a city in the Midlands of England, and is situated in the commerical centre of the city.
The name for the comic comes from my preexisting Warhammer 40K forum, also called The Battle
Barge. It was originally started to be a comments forum for my 40K website, but since this site
has folded and been amalgamated into my
kit modelling
site, I felt that the forum needed a new direction. I asked the few members there, and the general
consensus was that I should start a webcomic and use the forum for that too. Since I had been
threatening to start a comic for some time, I shrugged, got dressed and went to the shops to buy
some drawing supplies.
About the author

Dave Hughes (me), also known in some forums as Selezen, is a web designer working for the
NHS in Derby, UK. I am married to the lovely Anne and am stepdad and (scarily) role model
to the youngest of her children.
I have been drawing since I was at school, but have never been able to get the hang of drawing
people. I turned to computer graphic design when I received my first computer able to handle a
drawing package. That was when I was about 14. I usually draw space ships and stuff like that.
Recently I have been rediscovering 3D modelling with the
Wings3D package. My need to draw spaceships is currently being sated by being involved in
the
Oolite development project, which I submit ship
designs and expansion packs for. I am also writing the manual for the game.
Other interests include wargaming and roleplaying (hence the subject of the comic), web design,
computing and playing Elite and its variants. I am also an avid builder of model kits when I have
the time, and I spend a lot of time hanging around on forums.
