Press Release 5
Derby Evening Telegraph 3rd September 2008
A DERBY patients' group is urging people to wear yellow and black next week in support of a national awareness drive.
National Fibromyalgia Awareness Week starts on September 8, so the Derby Fibro Support Group wants supporters to wear its association's colours.
Fibromyalgia is an illness that affects muscles, causing pain and extreme fatigue, and currently has no cure.
The Mayor of Derby, Councilor Barbara Jackson, will mark the awareness week by meeting members of the Derby support group on Thursday, September 11.
Jackie Banton, founder of the group, said: "I will be contacting local councilors and MPs to raise their awareness about fibro.
"The chronic illness is recognised by the NHS but now we need to make the government recognise it so patients can receive the right diagnosis and prompt treatment."
