I have that happen a lot, myself. There's always the old jokes involving one's mother. It's never funny when they're directed at me because my mum died on my 13th birthday. I don't make a big thing out of it, especially not on the internet, but it does still hurt when people say it. I quickly debate weather or not to make the point and most of the time I don't bother. Because it usually comes from a friend, I know they meant no offence by it and it's always in a jocular tone, but when it's meant in an actual derogatory way I feel I have to say something.
